How it works
From the letter to the last page
Every file goes through the same five stages. The only thing that changes is how long each one takes.
- 01
Step 1: You send us the letter
Photograph it or send it as it came. Include the envelope if you still have it: the postmark is a date the board cares about.
- 02
Step 2: We read it with you
Within a business day we call to say what the letter actually asks, when the answer is due, and what we would do first.
- 03
Step 3: We gather the file
Your records, the board’s, your employer’s, and a timeline of the dates. Most of what decides a file is already on paper.
- 04
Step 4: We write the response
Short, plain and in order, with exhibits, and always shown to you first. We ask for more time when it helps, and the board often grants it.
- 05
Step 5: We stay for what follows
An interview, an offer, a hearing, an appeal. We are with you for the next step, whichever it is, and tell you what the one after looks like.
Costs
What it costs, and when you will know
After we have read the letter, we quote a fee in writing, before any work starts. Fees depend on the stage a file is in and on whether a hearing is likely, and we explain what is included and what is not.
A lawyer’s fee is separate from any fine, cost or monitoring expense the board may impose. We tell you about those as soon as we can see them.
You are never asked to pay to speak to us for the first time. We use that call to decide together whether we are the right firm.
